We brought back this format to keep you updated on the highlights and major events from our community over the past months. 2024 Workshop Presentations Earlier this year, we collaborated with the Santa Fe Institute and XPRIZE, for the workshop Animals in Translation: Imagining Criteria and Frameworks for Decoding Communication in Other Species. This creative space brought together leading experts to develop a set of criteria to decode animal communication. These statements/criteria will guide the design of a future XPRIZE competition in their Biodiversity + Conservation focus area. Recently, the focus group refined the key statements and takeaways from the workshop. The final criteria and publication will be released this November. All workshop presentations are now freely available online! You can count on research insights from Con Slobodchikoff, Yossi Yovel, Jeff Reed, Brenda McCowan, Julien Meyer, Gasper Begus, George Vengrovski, Laurance Doyle, and Catherine Hobaiter. Plus, an inspiring workshop introduction with Peter Gabriel, Neil Gershenfeld, Vint Cerf, Diana Reiss, Kate Armstrong, and David Krakauer. Watch the Recordings of Workshop Presentations Other Updates IIO is preparing a rebranding. From late 2024 to early 2025, we will be able to portray our mission through a renewed visual language. This transformation will help elevate our organization, strength our vision and open more exciting dialogues. Interspecies Conversations Lecture Series Interspecies Conversations is a monthly online lecture and workshop series that gives the opportunity to invite leading professors, scientists, researchers, and students to share and present work that contributes to advancing the acceleration and understanding of the diversity, forms and functions of communication in other species. We aim to showcase emerging ideas and discoveries and host open discussions where the community can join the conversation with ideas and feedback.
